Group Fitness

At the Active Leisure Centre our extensive range of classes offer something for everyone wanting to exercise in a group atmosphere.

We have three studios operating for our Group Fitness classes, which offers a variety of classes across various timeslots. A mix of freestyle classes conducted by professional, enthusiastic, fully qualified instructors compliments the forever-popular Les Mills programs on offer or try a RPM class in our new cycle studio.

Group Fitness Class Descriptions

ABTAbdominals, Butts and Thighs. Great toning and strengthening class for the abs and lower body. 
BODY PUMP Lite45 minute version of BODY PUMP.  
BODY ATTACKA high intensity interval workout with simple athletic moves and advanced strength work. Its simple, its energised, its challenging. 
BODY BALANCEControlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance.  
BODY COMBATA Martial Arts based fitness program with moves drawn from Karate, taekwando, kung fu, kickboxing, muay thai and tai chi. This provides an exhilarating exercise experience that delivers ultra-fast fitness results. 
BODY PUMPThis 60 minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspires you to get the results you came for – and fast! 
BODY STEPThe best butt and thigh workout. An addictive class with great music and levels to cater for everyone. Body Step delivers results fast combining rhythm and energy with an effective total body workout.  
RPMA 50min indoor cycling class based on outdoor riding. Riding to inspirational music over the equivalent of 20-25km of varied terrain, controlling the intensity of your workout with a resistance dial and pedal speed. 
Cardio BoxingUse boxing techniques and training methods you will recieve an awesome workout. This class will give you a great cardio and muscular burn. 
Circuit & Core Conditioning 
Strong Bones ClassA simple cross training class aiming to develop fitness, strength and flexibility. Great option for those starting out. 
Strong Bones CircuitThis class offers a self paced resistance training circuit held in the gym. It is self paced in nature this class is most suitable for those over 55 or beginners. 
Fat Burner SculptThis class comprises of a half circuit class using isolation exercises with hand weights. Can also use equipment such as swiss balls and bands. There is also a cardio component to burn those extra calories. 
Stretch and RelaxChallenge your flexibility with yoga style stretching and some relaxation. 
Flow YogaA blend of yoga styles suitable for all levels. 
Stretch Pilateslearn the safest and most effective way to increase and maintain your flexibility by applying the Pilates principles to your stretching. 
Fitball Strength and StretchStrength and flexibility training using the fitball. 
Pilates 2This is an intermediate level Pilates class requiring participants to have completed a beginners course in Pilates. 
Fiz EdOutdoor group training sessions based around simple, easy to follow fitness regimes. This program will increase your cardio fitness using aspects of circuit training, boxing, and cross training. It’s fun and suitable for everyone. (held indoors during winter).
